Settlement In Review August 2022

Settlement - SCOA-meeting-August-2022

The Government’s Settlement Program has been at the heart of successful settlement here in NSW. It has welcomed migrants and refugees to Australia for decades and supported them in adjusting to their new lives and homes. The Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Giles hosted the first sector face-to-face CEO meeting in three years at Parliament House. Open discussions on the need to reform immigration programs and settlement support for the future alongside partnerships that build on the Government energy and commitment shown by Afghan and Ukrainian arrivals during the disruption of COVID-19.

Evolving the services, support and approach to humanitarian settlement are critical, from immediate response to specific areas of need, adaptation and evolution – as the needs of our community and clients change with time and personal circumstances.

Western Sydney MRC CEO Kamalle Dabboussy was amongst 70+ CEOs, including experienced, qualified and diverse professionals who thoroughly understand Australia’s unique settlement environment and processes and are at the heart of our Settlement Programs.

“Settlement is a long-term investment into the future of Australia and an opportunity for Government and providers to nurture that investment,” said Kamalle.
