Volunteering with Western Sydney MRC
There are so many benefits of volunteering, to you, your family, and your community. Volunteering can help you make friends through new networks, reach out and connect with your and other communities, learn new skills, and even change your career path.
Most of us want to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and one way to achieve this is through volunteering. At Western Sydney MRC we have many programs and services that require a wide variety of skills… perhaps one that is just right for you. Volunteer today and make a difference.
English Conversational English
Connect English is a conversational English program that connects volunteers with refugees seeking to develop spoken English skills and build friendships across cultures. Connect builds functional English to assist social inclusion and offers friendship and cross-cultural exchange between volunteers and participants.
More so than ever we are in much needs of funds to support our continuation of services and programs. Find out how you can help with fundraising. We have a number of different initiatives both at a corporate and community level that you could get involved with.
Community Visitors Scheme (CVS)
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is an initiative of the Australian Government and is funded nationally by the Department of Health and Ageing. The aim of this program is to enrich the quality of life of residents of Aged Care Homes who have been identified as being lonely or socially isolated and might benefit from having a regular friendly visitor.
We have many amazing volunteers, involved in Mentor programs, CVS, homework support and youth events. Hear from them as they talk about their reasons for volunteering and how it has changed their lives.
