The program also support carers and families to connect with others and learn ways to better support their loved ones.

Psychosocial disability refers to challenges arising from mental health conditions that affect a person’s ability to participate fully in life. The Path to Freedom program helps address these barriers by offering tailored support through case management, skill-building, and community engagement opportunities.

The program is open to young people aged 11-21 years of CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds who are experiencing mental health challenges or psychosocial disabilities and reside in the Liverpool, Blacktown, or Campbelltown local government areas (LGAs) and their family/carers.
Note: No formal Mental Health diagnosis is required to be a part of this program.

Once you’re registered within the program, our ILC Project Coordinator will contact you for the initial assessment.
The program includes skill-building workshops, community engagement activities, and opportunities to pursue career and money management skills. These activities are designed to help participants develop leadership and resilience skills, improve their social interactions, and achieve personal growth.
The young people will be divided into 2 age-appropriate groups; 11-15 years and 16-21 years for these activities.
Workshops will be designed along with the participants during the co-design session, where the participants will work with the facilitators to develop activities that align with their personal interests and goals, whether focused on skill-building, community engagement, or personal development.
Yes, the program is fully funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, making it free for eligible participants and their families.
The program offers person centered case work and referrals for both young participants and their family/carers to support them with their needs, access to available resources and to achieve their goals.
The path to freedom program doesn’t provide direct financial assistance to the participants. However, participants can be referred to other available support service.
