I am an inquisitive realist who firmly believes in the power of good policy, grassroots initiatives and human connection over shared interests to create positive, lasting change.
As the Community Engagement Manager at the Western Sydney MRC, I oversee our youth, community development and families programs, such as our Multicultural Playgroups, social support groups and youth activities. My role incorporates advocacy, through policy submissions, research, consultation and remaining abreast of policy developments in the sector.
As a passionate refugee and human rights advocate, I have experience in policy, casework and human rights campaigns across several organisations including Amnesty International, ActionAid and Fokus Women, Sri Lanka. I have a Bachelor of Arts (University of Sydney, Sociology and Government & International Relations) and a Master of Human Rights and Democratisation (University of Sydney & University of Colombo, Sri Lanka).
When I’m not drafting letters to ministers or planning projects, I can be found on the hunt for great coffee, camping (preferably by the beach), bushwalking in the Blue Mountains or daydreaming of my next overseas adventure.
